Crowd Dynamics was commissioned to undertake LEGION Modelling of existing and forecast future peak station congestion to inform the development of the station masterplan.

Using footfall and crowd behaviour data collected in autumn 2014, a model was developed of the existing station with temporary arrangements in place.

The model was further developed to identify the implications on station capacity of passenger growth generated by developments in the city centre, of new services and platform arrangements, and of committed schemes to extend the station and provide a new ticket hall.
